About

Lorna Lowe Streeter

Formerly Wilhelmena Films, Lowe Road Productions was founded by Lorna Lowe Streeter in 2000 with the mission of creating documentary films that address important social issues.

FILMMAKER LORNA LOWE STREETER
Upon completing a dual program in political science and Cantonese at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Lorna graduated from Howard University in 1994. She left Howard having produced the first student-organized, multi-day seminar on violence against women, specifically targeting on-campus violence against female students. Between 1994 and 1996, Lorna held various and sundry positions in TV and Film: Management Associate at MTV, talent assistant at E!, Software Production Coordinator at Sony Pictures Imageworks and Music Legal Intern at Sony Pictures. In 1997, Lorna entered law school at the University of Southern California and began developing her first film, SHELTER.

Her next film ROMEO featuring domestic violence counselor Antonio Arrindel, is currently in production. Lorna became aware of "batterer intervention" though her work as an attorney in Massachusetts. In state intervention cases where domestic violence has been documented and a child is removed from the home, the father is often required to attend a "batterer's program" as a condition of returning custody. Lorna began observing Antonio's group interventions in 2003 and began production in 2004.

In 2005, Lorna was accepted as one of four filmmakers into the WGBH Lab as a Filmmaker-in-Residence.
